The University of Salford has just advertised its competition for Graduate
Teaching Assistantships beginning in September 2011. These are three-year
awards of tuition fees and a scholarship, during which time candidates are
expected to complete a PhD. The awards are available in any School of the
University; the tutor responsible for graduate students in the School of
Languages (Dr Iván García-Álvarez) has confirmed that people wishing to
study any area of theoretical linguistics, including language variation and
change, are welcome to apply. Further details can be found at

Again, please direct all questions to Dr García-Álvarez (his contact
