Information literacy: what’s in it for you?

Come along to CILIPS one day event spotlighting information literacy – what it is and why it’s important. Hear expert speakers discuss information literacy in the workplace, in education and in general and participate in specially arranged workshops to help you explore some of the key issues. The day features a morning of presentations and an interactive afternoon where delegates can engage with each other as we explore information literacy in practical sessions.
Presentations from:
Debbi Boden, Director of Library Services, Glasgow Caledonian University and Chair of CILIPS Information Literacy Group who will be exploring ‘Information literacy – what it is and why you need it’
Ian Watson, Project manager, Knowledge Media and Michelle Drumm of IRISS will look at ‘Essential skills for the workplace’ (Ian Watson, Project Manager, Knowledge Media and Michelle Drumm, IRISS)
Dr. Audrey Sutton, Information and Culture Manager, North Ayrshire Council will explore ‘Education and citizenship skills’
After lunch there is an opportunity to take part in interactive sessions:
Workshop 1 is The Information Literacy Game facilitated by Lesley Thomson, Knowledge Management Officer and Jenny Foreman, Information Literacy Librarian, The Scottish Government)
Workshop 2 is all about ‘Promoting Digital Literacy with PADDI’ facilitated by Sam Stirling, Library Team leader, Dundee College and Sara Brown, e-learning Advisor, JISC RSC-NE
