http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/publications/events/QEConference/callforpapers.htm
The Bank of England is organising a conference, in association with The Economic Journal, which will bring together researchers from both the international academic and policy communities to discuss what has been learned about Quantitative Easing (QE) and other unconventional monetary policies during the financial crisis. Confirmed speakers so far include Joseph Gagnon (Peterson Institute), Ricardo Reis (Columbia), Tom Sargent (New York University), and Jonathan Wright (Johns Hopkins University).
Submissions are welcomed on issues related to unconventional monetary policy. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to:
•Theoretical analysis of unconventional monetary policy
•Interactions with financial market frictions and imperfections
•Impact on government and corporate yield curves
•Impact on corporate lending and bank balance sheets
•Implications for the future conduct of monetary policy
•Central bank balance sheets and government debt
The intended focus of the conference will be mainly on the UK’s recent experience, but papers with a broader international or historical perspective are also welcome.
All papers accepted for the conference can be submitted to The Economic Journal for possible publication in a special Features issue. Submitted papers will benefit from an accelerated refereeing process and fast track to publication if accepted. Accommodation and travel expenses will be met for speakers and discussants.
QE dataset: To aid researchers, the Bank has made available a unique dataset covering the recent UK QE period.
The dataset contains daily information from January 2007 to June 2010 on UK government bond yields and a wider range of sterling financial market data, and includes details of the Bank’s QE-related asset purchase programmes.
Submission Deadline: If you would be interested in presenting work at the conference, please send a brief description of your proposed paper by 1 February, 2011, by emailing [log in to unmask] Papers for consideration should be sent to the same address in PDF format by 1 July, 2011, at the very latest. Acceptances and invitations will be sent out by the end of July.
