It's very simple Chris;
I refer to the indigenous persons of Combe Martin - those born and bred in the village - who consider all 'outsiders' foreigners and are very, very happy to share anecdotal clap-trap! If you require further information on this, just talk to Peter Claughton!
Patty and myself have now lived in Combe Martin for 14 years and have been treated as foreigners by the indigenous bred. However, the irony is that through genealogical research, it turns out that my darling wife has 5 ancestors buried in Combe Martin Parish Churchyard, 11 ancestors in Berrynarbor Churchyard, and 9 in Ilfracombe Churchyards. She is also related to the 'Hancocks', one time Lords of Combe Martin Manor, the builder of the Pack of Cards Public House, and 'Uncle Tom Cobley and all'.
Do you need to know anymore?
Trevor
