Hi Pauline
We had a visual facilitator at our Teaching and Learning Conference this year who produced a fantastic summary of the day. My colleague is planning to use him in the cultural theory module that we teach on together to show students how they can visually represent theoretical issues in their portfolios.

Yes I love this too (and the other RSA Animate series are also well worth a look).
Although these are done professionally and after the talk itself, on-the-fly visual notetaking is something I'd like to encourage more people to adopt. (Its popular in the US, where people can earn a living as professional visual facilitators or notetakers - google it and you'll find plenty of stuff)
Theres very nice video about how to do this on an ipad or similar device at http://ninmah.be/2010/08/02/ipad-visual-movie/ Using the Brushes app allows the process to be made visible as an animation, rather like the RSA videos.
Would Terry, Sandra and/or anyone else be interested in working with me and perhaps some art students to develop some resources along similar lines in 2 main areas: 1) to show students how they can make visual and non visual notes from lectures; and 2) to make study advice on other topics more engaging? Caro's colleagues and students did something similar at Falmouth, but it would be nice to have more in a variety of styles

· We laughed when we spoke at a Russian conference called 'Pedagogical Education' - as if education could be anything other than pedagogical. Little did we think... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDZFcDGpL4U. In the current turbulence perhaps we can hope for a catalyst?
