Open Access Repository Junction will be doing SWORD transfers using
EPCDX metadata wrapped in a METS package.
I know that BioMed Central are doing something similar.
It makes sense to me for everyone to describe data in the same way
(grandmothers & egg-sucking references rightly observed), so I'm making
sure that OA-RJ matches the BMC format.
Is anyone else actively using (or planning to use) METS+EPDCX?
Can you send me a sample record so I can compare what we have with what
you are using?
One further note, for anyone considering METS [& SWORD] - I have decided
NOT to include the files directly into the .zip file: how do you deal
with the situation where the Object being transferred contains a file
called 'mets.xml'? I have moved to defining all the xlink:href locations
as an absolute URL in the <Flocat> elements. I realise that neither
EPrints or DSpace importers understand that format yet, however one of
the Outputs from the OA-RJ project will be Importers that do.
