Dear colleagues,
May I have some advice please:
A circular shaft of 3.5m internal diameter is filled with 11m of loose
sand. If I simply use soil density x 11m, the soil loading at the bottom
of the shaft would be too conservative as there would be soil arching
effect + fraction of the shaft of the wall. Is there a relatively simple
method to calculate soil loading at the bottom of the shaft that takes
in account soil arching etc?
Merry Christmas and thank you in advance.
Regards
Paul
