This full-time, permanent post is available from 1 August 2011
The School of Sociology and Social Policy invites applications for the above post. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to contribute to the School’s collegial and interdisciplinary teaching and research culture.
The successful candidate will contribute to core undergraduate modules and provide modules of interest to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and to strengthen the School’s teaching and research profile in one or more of the following fields: families; children; gender; work; health and medicine. They will make a significant contribution through an administrative role and be involved in the planning, design and development of objectives and materials for degree programmes and modules. They will act as Personal Tutor and dissertation supervisor to undergraduate and postgraduate social policy, sociology and/or social and cultural studies students and co-supervise postgraduate research students.
The School maintains a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and scholarship which influences theory, policy and practice. The successful candidate will be expected to develop proposals and generate funding for research, write and contribute to books and publish in peer reviewed outlets, either independently or in collaboration with colleagues. The School was ranked 14th out of 68 in the UK in RAE 2008.
Candidates will be expected to have a PhD, or a PhD near to completion, significant experience of teaching in Higher Education and a consistent track record of research published in recognised and reputable outlets.
