Biostatistician/Senior Biostatistician (Discovery/pre-clinical and early development)
MedImmune in Cambridge (UK) are looking to recruit a biostatistician who will work closely with the scientists seeking to discover new medicines to treat Diseases in the areas of Respiratory/ Inflammation and Oncology. The statistician will be involved in the design and analysis of discovery and pre-clinical experiments, disease area investigations, bio analytical assay development, biomarker development and other aspects of drug discovery from disease target identification, model development to the demonstration of proof of concept in treatment.
The responsibilities of this position can evolve over time to include support for early clinical trial work in these (and other) disease areas. The statistician also has the opportunity to work in collaboration with numerous scientists and other statisticians in developing novel statistical methods to address statistical analysis and statistical modelling of experiments and experimental data. The collaborations may also evolve into providing statistical education to fellow scientists and act as a statistical consultant in various aspects of study design, statistical modelling and data analysis.
Qualifications
You may have an MSc (or equivalent experience in industry) in statistics or biostatistics with demonstrable experience within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment. Alternatively we would consider applicants with a PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics with little or no industrial experience. Exposure to multivariate and high dimensional data analysis of multiplexed assays, “omics” data, genetics data and imaging would also bring-in suitable experience for the job. Preferred candidates will also have statistical skills in R (and S-plus or SAS environments).
