Subject: Re: Messages not showing up in the archives
Paul,
First of all there was no personal criticism to anybody in the message I wrote to this list and you deleted from the archives, just plain description of data related to a recruitment operation (that has been suspended as far as I know, with change of management announced in October at several levels within the Medical Research Council).
Secondly, the point of "personal criticism" in records management and information sharing. It is important when you write a records management procedure as well as when you speak about FOI. Personal criticism is often all in the mind of the reader and we have to be aware of this otherwise we cannot speak about mistakes in archives, catalogs etc etc. Of course you cannot be effective in these areas without saying the source of information, there is no chatham house rule possible here. But everybody can first of all remember we are all humans beings, no personal attack or instrumentalism is to be feared. Secondly, expressing reasons of concern and add or ask for further particulars in order to help understanding a very grey area of intersection of information policies, technical standards and behaviours IS RIGHT not WRONG.
Particularly in the current economic climate, in a management of risk perspective, behaviours in HR and recruitment policies must be a matter of public concern (as I addressed in my CPD-Wiki http://bit.ly/cpd-wiki pages Job Seeking in a Recession). It is never wrong to try to understand the causes and the consequences of information disclosure within what are existing policies and regulations. You do not have any editorial policy for this list and your decision to delete my message was arbitrary wrong, so I ask you to put it back in the archive.
Finally, E-mail sent directly to me on the 1st october that you say you know I have received has not been received at all. On the grounds of what evidence you base this assumption? what type of receipts you have? I cannot control Yahoo!Mail logs so thank you very much for providing me further info on the point very important for me personally. Please specify also if your company (BT) has any conflict of interest speaking about this matter (for instance if you sell certified email).
Kind Regards
Brunella Longo
