colleagues, may I invite you to have a look at the third Edinburgh
ethnicity and health research group newsletter.

Here is the introduction:
Welcome to the 2010 edition of the Edinburgh Ethnicity and Health
Research Group (EEHRG) newsletter. This publication presents a selection
of the work conducted over the last year by the diverse members of this
group, who all have a common interest in ethnicity related research.
This issue’s special focus is on collaboration. A collaborative approach
is essential to our work. Examples of community, interdisciplinary,
intersectoral and international collaborative work are outlined within
this newsletter, accompanied by the experiences, opportunities,
challenges and benefits encountered in the process.
Dr Snorri Bjorn Rafnsson describes his experiences working for the
Migrant and Ethnic Observatory (MEHO) project - a European collaborative
venture. Colleagues at NHS Lothian Public Health tell us about their
work with maternity services and NHS Health Scotland to examine cultural
competency. Shabir Bandy, director of REACH Glasgow, talks about
inter-sectoral partnerships between the third sector and public sector
bodies. The group attracts its membership from a diverse range of
disciplines including public health, public health policy, primary care,
epidemiology, geography, nursing, to name a few, which stimulates
discussion, debate and the prioritization of future research areas.
We have been fortunate to continue to develop and nurture links with
international colleagues working in this field. Professor Vincent Lorant
and Dr Maria Karen Kristiansen, who visited the group this year, share
with us their experiences and reflections on their time spent in
Edinburgh. These international visits foster new research partnerships
and encourage joint research outputs. We hope you enjoy reading this
publication and we warmly welcome people with interests in ethnicity and
health to make contact with our group.
