Hi Jon,
I totally agree with you and at this event which we organised that came up
in conversation. The answer in the end was simply time/resources in the
end and I'm not sure if that's the best response. I am absolutely certain
if you've got ideas/thoughts that Paul would be more than happy to discuss
these with you. He's really open to idea although as the main slideshow
producer he's completely flat out!

This audio work looks great - and the Beeb's lead is really inspiring too. I
do wonder, however, if there's a way to add subtitles to these slideshows? I
did one or two for Disability Arts Online [using Flickr slideshow] and
quickly realised that web users with hearing impairments [like me] couldn't
access the audio content via transcripts as easily as we can via old-tech
web pages. Anyone got any ideas?

Subject: Kew's Digital Adventures - Top hints and tips for making great
audio slide shows for the web
Hi everyone,
I posted a new blog post today on Digital Adventures, covering top hints and
tips for making great audio slide shows for the web.
http://digitaladventures.wordpress.com/
As the Digital Team at Kew endeavour to produce more video and slide shows
for the web in house, I decided to attend free knowledge sharing workshop
about making audio slideshows.
The event took the format of a Q&A session with journalist Paul Kerley, the
BBCs online audio slide show guru. Paul was really open in sharing the
knowledge and skills that he's acquired over the years. So, for those of you
out there like me, who are just starting out in audio/video production for
the web, you might find this post useful.
