We have just started to charge fines again, after many years of not charging. Our LMS is currently set to allow readers to continue borrowing until the fines reach a £2 limit and then it implements a loan stop, the maximum fine per reader is £5. But we are wondering if we should implement a loan stop as soon as any fine is incurred even if it is just 5p. We don't want to discourage students from borrowing but we are wondering if we are being unfair to those students who pay a fine off immediately. I would be grateful for any views and examples of your working practice.
Many thanks.
