Hello all

Nottingham have ordered a set of Light and Gold for SATB not in stock yet, the CD was in the charts and we've had requests so we were thinking it will be a popular one

I'm reading "The idea of perfection" by Kate Grenville, it's beautifully written and really puts you inside the characters.

CDs of choral music by Eric Whitacre are receiving rave reviews. Does anyone know this music well enough to cast a communicable opinion? Does he fit into a contemporary American choral scene that includes the likes of Morten Lauridsen following on from Randall Thompson? Would comparisons with the Rutter and Karl Jenkins "industries" be unkind?

On Encore! there appear four works, all SATB:

Cloudburst (Bournemouth x 40)
Hope, faith, love (Birmingham x 40)
Sleep (Plymouth x 30)
When David heard (Bournemouth x 40)

Are there any other sets held which have yet to appear on Encore!?

One of the currently available CDs, "Music of Eric Whitacre" includes a concert band work "Ghost train trilogy". one of several published by Hal Leonard. Does anyone possess any of:

Cloudburst
Equus
Ghost train trilogy
Godzilla eats Las Vegas
Lux Aurumque (Light of gold)
October
Sleep

I'm not sure if I'm being sceptical about hype or missing out on some really good music. Anyone have any thoughts?

Regards

Roger
