The IIHS has announced an Institute on ‘Re-Imagining the World-Class City’ to be held in Bengaluru from 3 to 9 January 2011. We would be grateful if you were to nominate/circulate this to appropriate candidates.
This week-long initiative will bring together theoretical debates and existing practices, enabling an interdisciplinary exploration of the systems, processes and values that drive the development of cities. The Institute will be conducted by an inter-disciplinary Indian and international faculty of academics and practitioners for the selected 40 applicants. Applicants should either have completed or be currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters programme in any discipline. The Institute is also open to professionals from relevant fields.

IIHS announces a week-long Institute on Re-Imagining the World-
Class City. Bringing together an inter-disciplinary Indian and
international faculty of academics and practitioners, the Institute
will enable participants to engage with the political, economic,
ecological, infrastructural, social and institutional challenges of the
‘World-Class City.’ Through an engagement with real sites and
problems, participants will re-imagine what globalising Indian cities
and regions could develop into over the next decade and ask what
it will take to get there.
Eligibility | Participants from all disciplines can apply. Preference will be given to
applicants from technology, planning, design, management, law, social sciences and
environmental sciences. Applicants should either be Bachelors or Masters students,
graduates or young professionals with less than five years of work experience.
Deadlines | Last date for submitting applications is 30th November and for payment of
charges is 11th December.
Charges | ` 9,000(INR) for working professionals and ` 5000(INR) for candidates pursuing under-
graduate/ graduate degrees. Need-based limited partial funding is available for those
pursuing under-graduate/ graduate degrees only. Candidates can avail of residential
facilities, if needed, at additional cost.
