C'mon Julian, let's not diss biomimetics so globally. After all one of the
greatest discoveries of modern physics is clearly based on observing and
copying an idea from nature: The Law of Gravity. Newton was sitting under a
tree, an apple was naturally detatched, fell on his head, and Eureka! - the
rest is history.

Does any other area of investigation suffer from so much romance? It
