The Department of Anthropology, Brunel University, welcomes applications for 3 fees-only (Home/EU only) PhD studentships to commence in January 2011. The studentships are available for research in any part of the world and on any relevant anthropological topic.
Anthropology at Brunel has an international reputation for innovative research and for developing new research initiatives in fields such as medical anthropology, psychiatric and psychological anthropology and in the anthropology of childhood, youth and education. Other areas of research covered in the department include landscape and property relations, colonial and post-colonial histories, memory and violence, religion and ritual, and development. The Anthropology staff have conducted extensive field research in a wide range of areas including South, East and West Africa, South and Central India, Southeast Asia, Melanesia and the Pacific, Central and South America, Britain and Europe.
Applications should include a research proposal (of no more than 2000 words), a CV, and the names of three referees, should be returned to Eric Hirsch, Head of Brunel Anthropology ([log in to unmask]).
