Ph.D. and PostDoc positions available in the Controlled Molecule Imaging Group at the Center for Free Electron Laser Science, DESY, Hamburg, Germany and the University of Hamburg, Germany: We are looking for highly motivated individuals for novel experiments at the interfaces of molecular physics, laser physics, X-ray physics, and physical chemistry. Our group is especially interested in the control of complex molecules in the gas phase and in the investigation of their (ultrafast) molecular dynamics.
We have, over the last years, developed sophisticated methods to manipulate the motion of complex molecules in the gas phase. We have performed benchmark experiments on the imaging of these samples using molecular-frame photoelectron angular distribution and X-ray diffraction measurements. Currently, we are setting up new experiments to test alternative approaches and to further the level of control, as well as to perform detailed investigations of ultrafast molecular dynamics, i.e., to record the "molecular movie".
