Aims
North Africa is one focus of the workshop but presentations on all aspects of naturally fractured reservoirs from other regions are also welcome. We would like the workshop to include both methodologies and outcrop and subsurface studies addressing the fundamental controls on natural fracture networks, numerical modelling, and case histories of the practical development of naturally fractured hydrocarbon reservoirs. The meeting will include a mix of speakers from the petroleum industry and academia and bring together a range of disciplines including sedimentology, structural geology, geomechanics, rock mechanics, numerical modelling, petrophysics, flow modelling, reservoir engineering, and petroleum geology. We strongly encourage participants to give a presentation (talk or poster) to add to the interactive nature of the workshop.
Themes may include, but are not limited to:
LiDAR and other outcrop analogue studies of naturally fractured reservoirs.
Borehole and geophysical characterisation of subsurface fracture networks.
Fracturing in the fault damage zone and the arch effect on fracturing.
Integration of mechanical and sequence stratigraphy.
Fracture controlled diagenesis and reservoir quality.
Petrophysics of naturally fractured hydrocarbon reservoirs.
Flow modelling of naturally fractured hydrocarbon reservoirs.
Reviews and case histories of naturally fractured reservoirs.
It promises to be an interesting workshop with a strong presence from the oil industry and academia.
We hope to see you at the meeting.
