Taking up a recent thread and comment, one of the privileges of taking
part in the Society of Archivists' 50th anniversary oral history
project, "Celebrating Memory: An oral history of the Society of
Archivists and its Members" was discovering in the Society's archives
and in interviews that women have always formed a predominant proportion
of the profession. It is not a male-dominated profession into which
women have come; it is more the other way around. I personally think
that is important in uderstanding the profession and its situation, and
the future.
