Dear all
In 2002 and 2004 participants at two events shared resources and explored issues surrounding the teaching of global perspectives within social policy in the UK (both events were in association with the Social Policy Association and the Subject Centre for Social Policy and Social Work). Following this Zoë Irving, Nicola Yeates and Pat Young published an article in Social Policy and Society (2005; 4;4; 475-484)putting the case for the integration of a global perspective within social policy as a means of enriching teaching and learning methods and experiences.
We are very interested in revisiting this theme and finding out how the curriculum has developed over the last few years in terms of integrating global perspectives. We would love to hear from anyone who has or is in the process of integrating global perspectives into their teaching of social policy to undergraduates or postgraduate students and would be willing to share their resources and experiences. How do your students respond to global perspectives - what do you find works well, and not so well? If you presented materials at the 2002 or 2004 events it would be great to hear from you too - have you continued to use those materials or have you developed them further? Have you noticed changes in student responses to global perspectives?
Global responses are very welcome!
Many thanks
Rebecca
