Thanks John. The problem seems to be that there are many different ways of organising FoI support. Sometimes it sites within a Records Management activity. Sometimes it sits with the Registrar, or University Secretary. And sometimes, it is highly devolved, down to departments and even research groups (which of course means highly variable training and experience). We did have a little more text around this, but it didn't seem to add anything so I took it out. I'm hoping that anyone smart enough to be a researcher and find this FAQ will have the nous to find their local equivalent to our "FoI Practitioner"!

The FAQ attempts to cover the UK and Scotland versions of both Freedom of Information Acts and the Environmental Information Regulations. Two versions have been prepared: a space-limited version for print, and a longer version for the web. These drafts are now available for consultation until 12 November, 2010. We welcome your comments on these drafts. In particular, we are interested in whether there are additional questions that should be added, and whether our explanations are clear enough (and accurate).
