Professorial Inaugural Lecture
‘Confessions of a Peer Reviewer’
Peer review is boring - until it goes wrong that is - then we get very excited because we feel that we have been misunderstood, denied grant funding, not had our work published, or been subject to incompetence or possibly maliciousness.
Peer review is simply the process by which our work is viewed by experts who we expect to be knowledgeable and fair in their judgements.
Peer reviewers are responsible for a wide range of judgements that affect our academic lives, from institutional assessment to the work of individuals.
This talk will consider the efficacy of peer review generally, and how it relates to art, design and architecture as an evolving discourse.
Wednesday 27 October 2010 1700-1900 Phipps Lecture Theatre, BIAD, Birmingham UK
The lecture will be followed by refreshments.
