italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear members of the list,
I am posting this call for papers on behalf of the SISSCO
(Italian Society for the Study of Modern and Contemporary
History).
Il Mestiere di Storico is the biannual journal of the
Italian Society for the Study of Modern and Contemporary
History (www.sissco.it); it is mailed directly to its
approx. 700 members. The journal fosters a dialogue
between Italian and international scholarship and informs
on Italian and international historical literature. Each
issue contains between 150 and 170 short book reviews and
a certain number of in-depth feature reviews covering
between 10 and 20 recently published books. It also
publishes, in the first issue of the year, reviews of
museums, exhibits, films, serials and novels of historical
subject, and, in the second issue, a survey of the
periodical literature. The Journal covers all areas of
Italian and world history.
Starting with the 2011 we intend to publish 1 or 2 peer
reviewed articles per issue. Il Mestiere di Storico
invites submissions of general interpretive and
historiographical articles. Articles should not exceed
10.000-12.000 words, footnotes included. Articles can be
submitted in Italian, English, French, German, and
Spanish. The articles are published in the original
language if they are written in Italian, English, French
and Spanish. Il Mestiere di Storico will consider only
original articles, which have not been published elsewhere
and differ substantially from other published work.
Proposals must include a 300 word abstract and a cv of the
author.
All articles submitted to Mestiere di Storico undergo a
preliminary editorial screening and reviewing by two
external anonymous referees.
Il Mestiere di Storico is available at the URL
http://www.sissco.it/index.php?id=1503 and in full text at
EIO (Editoria italiana online); it is also covered by the
following abstracting/indexing services:Aida/Articoli

nazionale. Manuscripts and all editorial correspondence
should be addressed to the editor: [log in to unmask] or
