Students with Disabilities (OSD). This is a unique opportunity to work for

*Purpose of the Position:*
* *
Reporting to the Executive Director, Services for Students, the Director
will develop and ensure the implementation of OSD administrative policies so
that the needs of students are identified and responded to in an efficient
and effective manner. The incumbent will ensure that McGill maintains the
highest quality of universal design and delivers integrated infrastructure
planning that addresses the needs of students with disabilities. The
Director will act as a resource person to the University community on
current policies, practices and protocols related to the provision of
services to McGill’s student clientele. He/she will manage and oversee the
budget administration and human resource issues of the Office (OSD). The
incumbent will participate in University committees, community groups and
workgroups and provide leadership and expertise with regard to the provision
of services to students with disabilities.

*Key Roles**:*

The major responsibilities of the Director, Office of Student with
Disabilities are the following:
· ensures that University and Service procedures are followed and
responsible for overseeing and developing an effective communication plan
· identify and resolve problems reported by staff or students
· meetings with individual students and assess most of their needs
related to their disability are conducted on a timely basis
· provide expertise to the academic and administrative community,
e.g. Deans, Associate Deans, Departmental Chairs, Faculty members and
administrative support staff concerning issues particular to OSD or an
individual student
· keep abreast of the legal and political developments governing the
provision of service for students with disabilities, i.e. Quebec Charter of
Rights and Freedoms as well as policies developed by the Ministère de
l’éducation, du loisir et du sport and l’Office des personnes handicapées du
Québec
· keep abreast of trends, developments and research in the area of
students with disabilities at federal and international levels as well
· manage staff
· provide objectives, project and funding forecasts and written
reports to the Executive Director on the programs and activities of the OSD
· implement changes to Service policies, procedures and protocols,
as required
· meet with student leaders, University representatives to discuss
issues of concern and to resolve complaints
· in collaboration with other areas of McGill, develop and manage an
effective crisis response system for students with disabilities

*Qualifications and Experience**:*
* *
· B.A. in a relevant field is essential, graduate degree an asset
· Proven experience in leading a post-secondary disabilities service
team or relevant supervisory role within a disability population
· Budget management experience
· Proven experience of developing and implementing strategy
· Fluency in written and spoken English and French
