If there are no references cited to back up the statement in Wikipedia then
it is probably just someone's personal opinion and/or personal experience.
The paragraph in question does not have a reference:
"However, the actual *scope* of disability studies differs from country to
country in spite of its common core. Some, such as the United Kingdom, tend
to see the field primarily as primarily belonging only to disabled people
and the disability
activism<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disability_activism>they might
tend to promote; in the United
States <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States>, by contrast, a much
wider range of professions, such as
sociology<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sociology>and the social
sciences <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_sciences> more generally,
which involves both able-bodied
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Able-bodied>and disabled people, may be
involved.
[*citation needed <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed>*
]" Anyone can edit Wikipedia pages. If you remove that paragraph then I
think that the person who added it will get an automated message about the
change.
You can see you has contributed to the page, by adding, amending, deleting,
etc. here:
