We are seeking a statistician to provide maternity cover within the
Bioinformatics Core at Cancer Research UKıs Cambridge Research Institute.
The Cambridge Research Institute (CRI) is a major initiative of Cancer
Research UK in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. Strategically
situated on the Addenbrookeıs biomedical campus, the Institute aims to link
the laboratory to the clinic and emphasises a multi-disciplinary approach to
The Bioinformatics Core facility provides statistical and computational
support for research at the CRI through statistical data analysis, data
management, and training and consultation services, focussing primarily on
high-throughput genomics and proteomics technologies, including microarrays,
next generation sequencing and protein/peptide mass spectrometry.
We are seeking an experienced statistician to provide support to
laboratory-based research scientists. This will include providing
statistical input to the experimental design process, performing data
analysis and providing advice on the appropriate application and reporting
of statistical methods.
This is initially a six month contract covering for maternity leave,
anticipated start date mid November.
You should have a good first degree in a numerate discipline along with an
MSc or PhD in Statistics or a related discipline with significant
statistical content. You should also have significant relevant experience
working as a statistician preferably in a biological or medical field.
Knowledge of the techniques of clustering and classification would be an
advantage, along with experience of multi-level modelling, survival analysis
or Bayesian techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience in the R
statistical programming environment. The role requires good communication
skills and the ability to work well in a team.
