The Statistics Group in the School of Mathematics and Physics is one of
the leading providers of statistical education in Australia and is
recognised internationally for its active and dynamic research programs
across a wide range of areas in statistics and probability, including:
*Applied probability models in biology, ecology, reliability
telecommunications, and mathematical finance
*Computational methods in statistics, including Monte Carlo simulation
*Mixture modelling and cluster analysis
*Multivariate analysis
*Statistical methods in biosciences
*Stochastic processes and their applications
We are seeking motivated statisticians who are interested in joining our
School to expand our activities in applied, theoretical, and
computational statistics.
The role The successful appointees will be expected to take an active
role in the research efforts of the School. This includes frequent
publication in high quality journals, participation in and organizing of
conferences, international and interdisciplinary collaboration, and
attracting competitive research funding. The appointees will be expected
to teach from a selection of undergraduate and postgraduate statistics
courses, ranging from large first year courses to specialised graduate
courses. Other teaching duties include postgraduate supervision and
curriculum development. The selected candidates will be expected to
raise further the University's strong international profile in
statistics, and to attract postgraduate students and postdoctoral
researchers to the University.
The person Candidates with a strong international research record,
relative to opportunity, in any of the areas above are encouraged to
apply. We are particularly interested in applicants with excellent
mathematical background in applied statistics, biostatistics, and
computational statistics. The applicants must have a genuine commitment
to statistics teaching and curriculum development, and be an advocate of
statistics and mathematics within the University and in the broader
community.
Remuneration The remuneration package will be in the range of $73,836 -
$87,680 per annum (Academic Level B) or $90,449 - $104,293 per annum
(Academic Level C), plus employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
Total package will be in the range of $86,388 - $102,586 (Academic Level
B) or $105,825 - $122,023 (Academic Level C). These are both full-time,
continuing appointments at Academic Level B or Academic Level C
depending on qualifications and experience.
