Salary (inclusive of London allowance)
Reader: £50,700 - £55,142 per annum; Professor: negotiable on the
professorial scale but not less than £61,713 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Department has recently undergone a substantial programme of
expansion. It now invites applications for a Chair/Readership in
Statistics from candidates with an outstanding research record of
international excellence. The person will be expected to provide
research leadership as well as to contribute to the Department's
undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes. More experienced
candidates may be considered for the future Headship of the
Department.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have an internationally recognised track
record of research and will be able to contribute to the strong
research profile of the Department. For the Chair, he/she is expected
to have a continuing track record of external research grant funding
and doctoral research supervision. For a Readership, he/she is
expected to have past success in obtaining external funding and
experience of doctoral research supervision. At either level,
candidates are also expected to have experience of teaching at
undergraduate or postgraduate level and excellent interpersonal, oral
and written communication skills. Applications from candidates with
interests in medical research or biostatistics are particularly
welcome, although applications will be considered from candidates in
any area of statistical science. The appointee will possess a PhD or
equivalent qualification.
