We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher/statistician to join the MRC
Centre of Epidemiology for Child Health to work on a portfolio of projects
mostly concerning obesity, including both influences on obesity (such as
physical activity) and health consequences of obesity, primarily risk of
cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This appointment is for an
experienced analyst keen to work with rich life-course data and who wishes
to contribute to understanding of environmental and (epi)genetic
influences on disease.

This post offers an excellent opportunity to work in important research
areas, with scope to develop and apply skills and use a range of methods
within the context of a multidisciplinary research group and extensive
national and international collaborations. The post holder will be
responsible for data analysis and write-up of scientific papers and
reports.

Applicants must have a PhD in epidemiology or another relevant subject, or
an MSc in Statistics. The successful candidate must have experience of
handling large and complex datasets, including file manipulation using
standard software packages such as Stata, SAS, R, MLwin or Mplus.
Applicants must have a good working knowledge of research methods in
epidemiology and/or statistics.

The post is initially funded for 18 months. Salary (inclusive of London
allowance): £31,778 - £32,648 per annum depending on skills and experience
(Grade 7).
