An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Research Statistician to work on a specific research project. This is an exciting 1 year project which has attracted funding from the National Institute for Health Research to investigate the potential for influenza and pneumococcal vaccination to prevent stroke. This is a case-control study involving the statistical analysis of a large primary care dataset.
Based at the University of Lincoln, Brayford Campus you will also work closely with members of the Primary and Prehospital Research Groups in the Lincoln School of Health and Social Care and other members of the project team based at the University of Nottingham.
You will be responsible for all aspects of the research project. Specific responsibilities will include working closely with members of the project team to develop the statistical methods in the analysis plan, analysing data and preparing reports and conference abstracts and papers for submission to peer reviewed journals and presenting at national and international conferences.
You will have experience of quantitative research including statistical analysis of large and complex datasets. You should be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of data analysis packages including Stata and in Microsoft Office Packages. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to take a liaison role across the region linking in with members of the project team.
Qualified to masters' degree or doctoral level in statistics, although similar qualification and research experience will be considered; appropriate methodology training is essential. Experience of health research is desirable.
You will report directly to the project Steering Group but will also be provided with supervision from members of the research team.
