The OR Society:Royal Statistical Society Careers Open Day for
undergraduate and postgraduate students of Statistics, Mathematics and
Operational Research will be taking place on Wednesday 17 November 2010
at the University of Birmingham.
Please see www.rss.org.uk/careersopenday
<http://www.rss.org.uk/careersopenday> for details of the programme so
far and for a downloadable booking form.
If your company/organisation is planning to recruit graduates in 2011
and 2012, and might like to run a stand in our marketplace and/or give a
talk to students on the work you do, please get in touch.
We are particularly keen to hear from:
- employers who would like to promote forthcoming vacancies and
openings and identify good candidates for interview for: jobs,
internships, scheme places available from Summer 2011
- employers keen to profile expected opportunities for students
from Summer 2012 onwards
- providers of postgraduate study/research who would like to
promote their courses and research positions.
Although many of the students who attend this event will be looking to
enter the workplace in Summer 2011, others may not be looking for work
until Summer 2012 or Summer 2013+, if they are embarking on full or
part-time postgraduate study or research first. They will, however, all
be keen to get a sense of the market for their skills and to start
thinking about how they can best prepare themselves for the workplace.
Your role in guiding them will be an important one.
We know that students of statistics have skills which are amongst those
most sought by employers. This is the only careers fair for students of
statistics and by supporting it, you will be investing in future
recruits, supporting the successor generation of statisticians and
keeping students well motivated/positive about their future job
prospects. Moreover, this event is also an excellent way of ensuring
that your company is on students' radars.
If you would like to discuss the Open Day further or book a place,
please get in touch with Debra Hurcomb, Theme Manager (Education) at the
RSS via Tel: 020 7614 3934 and E-mail:[log in to unmask] Thank-you
in advance.
