The Communication and Digital Culture Area of the Popular Culture Association is soliciting proposals for panels and individual papers that explore questions of privacy in a network society.
How has the penetration of information technology into everyday life reframed our concepts of privacy, intimacy, and public information? Have social media altered our understanding of what, where, and with whom to share? How have civil liberties become a matter of one’s ability to “opt in” or “opt out” of data mining?
Possible topics include:

Self-Surveillance
The Politics of Public Information
“Control-Self-Delete”
Facebook as Performance
Online Reputation Management
Personalization & Aggregation
Public Figures & the End of Lying
Cookies, Beacons, and Trackers
Radical Transparency
