Dear friends and colleagues
I am very pleased to invite you to the following concert by Ed Hughes and
the New Music players featuring my new short film, ‘Surrealist Picnic II’,
a quirky take on Lee Miller's photograph, ‘Picnic’, Mougins, 1937 - an
iconic image of surrealists on vacation. The film will be accompanied by a
live performance of ‘Sextet’, composed by Ed Hughes. Please book via the
link below.
EVENT INFORMATION:
Date: Monday 27 September, 8pm
Venue:
Kings Place
90 York Way
London
N1 9AG
(5 minutes from Kings Cross/St.Pancras)
What happens when photography meets film and music? Working in
collaboration with the New Music Players and composer Ed Hughes, three
distinguished film makers and curators present new works on subjects in
20th century photography, to show how archive photography can be
rediscovered and newly illuminated in resonances with video, abstract film
and music.
The event features the world premiere of Ed Hughes’s ‘Chamber Concerto’
and ‘Snap’ by Nicholas Collins, the UK premiere of Dan Yuhas’s ‘Quartet’,
two fascinating films and the first phase of a major collaborative project
exploring World War II archive footage taken by RAF fighter pilots with a
new score by Ed Hughes.
The concert features the fabulous New Music Players – an amazing line-up
of players who are all soloists in their own right and play in the UK’s top
orchestras and ensembles. For this concert we are joined by guest violinist
Thomas Gould, and are delighted to be working with conductor Patrick Bailey
again.
