it was the second Mimas resource that was down Ross (cider being the other) which is now working again.

http://hairdressing.ac.uk/cgi-bin/wayf?idp=urn:mace:ac.uk:sdss.ac.uk:provider:identity:uhi.ac.uk
hence the cry that shibboleth is not working as that URL is redirecting to a test server.
