Dear All,
After brief consultation with G. Bodard, I have started the page "Citation in digital scholarship" on the Digital Classicist wiki. Its goal is to document current practice in making citations and to foment further discussion.

This is a big topic and I think it is pressing for many of us. I do not want to see a top down standard that isn't comfortable for all. Rather, I think there is an opportunity to coalesce towards conventions that are useful for authors and recognizable by automatic agents. When two people make a reference to the same text, museum object, geographic entity, etc., I think we want that to be discoverable. How do we achieve that.
It is Friday evening where I am so that explains some brevity. If there are people interested in engaging with this topic, please respond here or let me know. Also, feel free to add to the wiki page.
Best,
Sebastian.
