This reminds me of a discussion that was being had at the Records Management Society not that long ago where the lack of suitable candidates applying for jobs in the Records Management Sector was becoming a real problem.
Everyone qualifies from Archives and Records Management courses and wants to do archives; no one seems to want to go on to specialise in records management positions leading to a real vacuum of expertise especially with electronic records management where we need the greatest innovation in our sector at the moment.
So, if you are up for records management as opposed to archives, perhaps there might be slightly more options?
Also, we're just about to advertise a post to cover maternity leave - unfortunately it is temporary but it'll be for a year as opposed to six months and you get to live in sunny Devon! Archives and collections, plus records management all in one on a beautiful mediaeval estate? Roll up, roll up.... more details to follow soon!
