A quick announcement of two upcoming online statistics training programs provided by The Analysis Institute.
1. Getting Started With SPSS Syntax Webinar: Wednesday, September 22, 1pm EDT (GMT-5)
This free, one-hour training webinar is part of the regular Craft of Statistical Analysis series.
In it, we’re going to talk about taking the leap from menus to syntax in SPSS. There's nothing wrong with using the menus in many situations, but syntax has a number of advantages--efficiency, communication, more options, and especially documentation.
Luckily SPSS has a number of built-in features that will help you get started using syntax. In this webinar, we'll go through some of them, and show you some examples for using syntax to do data manipulation and analyses.

2. Running Regressions and ANOVAs in SPSS GLM Online Workshop: Begins Tuesday, September 28. Student discounts apply.
Both the Regression and the General Linear Model procedures in SPSS can run linear regression models, but the GLM has many more options, detailed output, and flexibility. This flexibility is both its biggest strength, and to the unititiated, what makes it so confusing.
This workshop will decode GLM's unique terminology and show participants how it compares to the regression procedure—the types of models that are easier in GLM, the options only available in Regression, and the identical output that is labelled differently!
Participants will learn in detail how to run both menus and syntax, choose the right options, and understand the output of the Univariate GLM in the context of two linear models--a multiple regression with a categorical predictor and an interaction and an analysis of variance with and without a continuous covariate.
In each of the 3 weeks of the workshop, participants get access to one learning module. Each module includes 1+ hours of video instruction, handouts, SPSS exercises with answers, and a one-hour live question and answer session with an instructor.
