Building Community
After focusing on Sustainability last year, we wanted to go further. The most sustainable action we can take is Building Community.
As we grow and develop, we find that we have relationships, children; we grow older and can help others or need help. But what do we have to fill those needs? How far do we want to go as a community to provide help for the elderly or the needy in our groups? What do we need to be a community that fulfills our needs without becoming controlling? Where are the literature, the songs, the art, the dance, the films, the healing arts, the schooling, the resources to grow our community? How do we exist in companionship with the majority paradigm?
We are open to many areas of research in the field Pagan Studies. However, we are particularly looking for papers that explore Pagan theo/alogies, outlooks, artistic values, etc. and whether or not they can be helpful in building community.
Remember that our definition of Pagan is very broad encompassing Wicca, witchcraft, earth-based religions and other permutations that have arisen from the current interest in Neo-paganism. We are reaching out to indigenous religions who might not see themselves under the rubric of pagan but who have a worldview of the Earth as being alive. We are also reaching out to those who understand that our vision of life affects the quality of that life.
