To the international tunicate research community.
Due to a recent unexpected scheduling change in a key summer event in Montreal (namely the International Jazz Festival), we have shifted the dates of next summer's 6th International Tunicate Meeting. The originally-announced dates were July 7-11. The new dates are July 3-7. The general format of the meeting will be as previously announced, i.e., two full days work, one excursion day off, two full days work. Please plan to arrive in Montreal on Saturday July 2 as we will start the meeting with a full day's program on July 3. We will provide additional information on conference center lodging accommodation when we mount the meeting website shortly but please plan to make your own travel arrangements.
I thank the many American colleagues who told me that the occurrence of the US July 4 holiday during the scheduled meeting would not be an obstacle to their participation; this was obviously an important consideration. In recognition of this cooperative spirit we will arrange a July 4 barbeque lunch for that day for all meeting participants (and family) to mark the event.
Thank you all for your understanding and flexibility in this adjustment. I also take this opportunity to mention that in addition to various sessions on development, genomics, physiology, and systematics/evolution, the meeting will include a session on invasive species chaired by Mary Carman (WHOI) and Jeff Davidson (UPEI).
Thanks again, and see you in Montreal next summer.
