Victoria,
I'd suggest posting your question to the recently established READING-LIST-SOLUTIONS JISCMail list (https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=READING-LIST-SOLUTIONS) - there are Talis and LearnBuild customers on there, but also people who are developing their own solutions, using Open Source solutions, integrating with their VLE etc. And of course other people looking at the various alternatives.
There have also been a couple of events recently that looked at Reading List software - I've blogged the 'Reading List Hackday' organised by UKOLN at http://www.open.ac.uk/blogs/telstar/tag/devcsi/, and there was a session on Reading Lists at the most recent 'Innovations in Reference Management' event which I blogged at http://www.open.ac.uk/blogs/telstar/2010/06/21/reading-lists-and-references/ - this relates the experience of a Talis Aspire customer, a LearnBuild customer, and the TELSTAR project at the Open University which uses an integration between Moodle and RefWorks to publish reading lists in the VLE (disclaimer - I was the project manager)
Hope this helps
