Sorry for crossposting.
Hi everybody,
as President of the Canadian Disability Studies Association-Association
Canadienne des ?tudes sur l'Incapacit?
I would like to bring to your attention our call for papers for our 8th
Annual Conference* June 1, 2, and 3, 2011* so next year at St. Thomas
University and the University of New Brunswick, in conjunction with the
annual Congress of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social
Sciences.
The description and the abstract forms can be found at
http://www.cdsa-acei.ca/conference.html
Here the links to the Word files
http://www.cdsa-acei.ca/2011CFP.doc
http://www.cdsa-acei.ca/2011abstractsubmissionCDSA.doc
The *deadline for submissions is October 04, 2010* and you should
receive the *notice of decision before Christmas 2010* so you have
ample of time to look for funding.
However I would bring to your attention *one new feature of our conference.
*
For the first time our Abstract form has a section where you can
indicate * whether you want to present your paper in person or virtually. *
If you tick the virtual option, your abstract will be peer reviewed as
any other abstract. However you will not present your paper in person at
the conference, but your full paper will be put on a password protected
discussion forum where in person and virtual conference participants can
read the paper. A schedule will be developed in which any accepted paper
will be given one hour on the discussion forum where any given author
can debate their paper with interested people from the conference. These
discussions will take place after the conference. You still have to pay
CDSA-ACEI and Congress conference fees but you would save travel and
lodging costs. As your abstract is peer reviewed it should have the same
weight on your CV, and count as a conference presentation as do face to
face presentations.
In tune with the Congress of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities
and Social Sciences theme for 2011 " Coasts and Continents: Exploring
Peoples and Places / Rivages et continents : exploration des peuples et
des lieux," CDSA-ACEI encourages attendees at the 2011 conference to
explore the geographical, historical, literary, artistic, socio-economic
and political world that shapes disability studies and can be shaped by
disability studies; to explore the place of disability studies in the
world and how the world of disability studies is shaped by an
individual's and a people's experience. This CFP in particular
encourages submissions on glocalization, global citizenship and
disability studies.
I look forward to your response and if you have any questions just email me.

Cheers
Gregor
