TRAINING PLACEMENT IN MARITIME ARCHAEOLOGY
THROUGH THE HLF FUNDED IFA WORKPLACE LEARNING BURSARIES SCHEME

Location: HWTMA offices in Southampton, some travelling for projects may be required
Duration: One year
Start date: October/November 2010
Applications are invited for an Institute of Archaeologists/Heritage Lottery Funded placement in Maritime Archaeology, hosted by the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology / MA Ltd. The HWTMA is a charitable organisation which works to promote interest, research and knowledge of maritime archaeology and heritage. The Trust has a trading company, Maritime Archaeology Ltd., from which profits are used to support the work of HWTMA. The successful applicant will learn how to work through the entire maritime archaeological process from desk-based research and fieldwork planning, through data collection, management and analysis, to post fieldwork interpretation, report writing and public dissemination through HWTMA's extensive education and outreach programme.
Applicants must have a degree in Archaeology, some professional archaeological experience and an interest in maritime archaeology and its public dissemination.
