Hi Mark,
We've been using this for a few years now. We're happy and intend to
continue using it. We're listed as one of the case studies.
The key issue is deciding the scope of what is checked: HE websites are
large, between and within which there is significant variation in
value/quality.
We have looked at a variety of solutions but another key issue - for us
- is measuring quality from the visitor's perspective. This means
checking the site as provided (ie published) rather than as produced (eg
pre-publishing). SiteCheck matches our requirments on this.
I'd also add that it's important to respond pragmatically to the results
of checks: we don't always correct if we judge the visitor experience is
better served by not correcting, or if we have other higher priorities
to address using our limited resource.
Happy to answer any direct questions.
Stephen...

Subject: Quality compliance tools
Dear All,
I have recently been introduced to a web-based quality compliance tool
called 'SiteCheck'
offered by a company called 'Siteimprove'. The service can regularly
check your website for misspellings, broken links (internal & external)
and pages that do not validate against W3C standards. For those
interested further details about this service can be found here:
http://siteimprove.com/Solutions/SiteCheck/SiteCheck2.aspx.
I have so far been impressed with this product and was wondering if
anyone has had any experiences using it? I would also be interested to
know if anyone is aware of or is currently using any other similar
services?
Thanks,
Mark
