The first thing you need is someone to tell you that it is important to
spell bona fide right -Jules and Sandy about bona polare - if you want
someone to take your seriously.
It also helps to know how the internet works and that people can delve into
unknown nooks and crannies.
Having said that, great idea. Good luck with it.
Anything in there to attract the engineers and businesses? That is where the
money can come from, given recent developments in RC land. (See recent stuff

It plan was to email the list very soon but I'm 'outing' myself now due to
the messages earlier. This isn't some dodgy viral marketing campaign, nor
is it a faith organisation trying to sells itself as a science festival - it
is a bonefide science festival.
To force a little of my life story on you...
London Science Festival is an idea which came to me 3yrs ago while I was
working as Administrator for the Science Communication Group at Imperial
College London. While working at Imperial I completed an MA in Science &
Culture at Birkbeck College (my first degree = BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry),
and I have managed events at festivals, including the British Science
Festival and the Royal Society Summer Science exhibition - so, this festival
is a natural progression on that.
After Imperial, I spent 2.5yrs as a Web Marketing Officer at University
College London (UCL) so there will be new media overload with this festival;
the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/londonsciencefestival) and Twitter
account (www.twitter.com/LondonSciFest) were published this week so that
social networkers can watch the festival grow and support the project.
I have been a subscriber to the psci-com list for about 9yrs and am aware of
a lot of the great work that listers do - so please be aware that there is
no intention to exclude anyone from information about the festival.
The social network pages say "Become a fan, watch us grow, send us your
ideas!" - so all ideas & suggestions welcome! ([log in to unmask])
I am speaking to potential partners with a view to holding a first group
meeting this October to brainstorm on programming, themes, logistics etc.
And, I have focussed on the big science organisations first because their
contribution is likely to have biggest effect on plans for the festival.
But, the intention is to involve as many (reputable) organisations as
possible as the festival develops.
Some of my personal ideas for themes/strands - which I'll be putting to the
group in October - are:
*SCIENCE & LONDON (of course!)
*SCIENCE & WAR
*FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES - mobile comms, internet, AI
*SCIENCE & CULTURE - art, fashion, museums etc.
*SCIENCE & SPORT - London 2012
*BIG CONTEMPORARY QUESTIONS IN SCIENCE
*MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES
*CERN / PHYSICS
I know, they're all no-brainers really! But, I'm hoping there's potential to
pick a number of strands and run wild with them.
The main festival website (londonsciencefestival.com) will launch this
Autumn.

Has anyone seen this or know anything about it?

information anywhere and the people on here don't seem to be very
forthcoming with details other than the website is launching in the autumn.
Someone is starting up a London Science Festival but it doesn't say who. It
also says that they have been inviting HE institutions and museums to be
partners but, asking around, no one seems to know anything about it...i'm
sure there are loads of people who would want to get involved in this.
It all seems a bit secretive so sorry if I'm "outing" the organisers, just
would be quite interested to find out more.
