Another word of caution. Post code boundaries do not coincide with local
authority areas. For example, if you believe the post codes then
Aberystwyth is in Shrewsbury. The government has a website that allows
you to search by post code for a local authority -
http://local.direct.gov.uk/LDGRedirect/Start.do?mode=1. This should
help.
All the best,

Subject: Postcode analysis
Hi Gemmers,
We have been collecting the postcodes of people who attend our events as
our remit is to cover 4 boroughs of Teesside. So I now have a lot of
postcodes and I'm wondering if there's an easy way of:
a) identifying which postcodes belong to a particular borough
b) counting how many people we've reached in each borough using this
information.
At the beginning of this project I did a bit of analysis by hand in an
excel spreadsheet but i have a great many more postcodes to deal with
now, and wondered if there was an easier way!
If anyone does this kind of analysis or has any tips or pointers where
to find out more I'd be very grateful.
Thanks in advance
