The third edition of BBSRC's schools resource, ‘Stem Cells: Science and Ethics’ is now available!
The booklet has been designed to be used in secondary school classrooms, in particular to support the teaching of ‘A’ level and Higher/Advanced higher students studying Biology, Religous Studies and related courses. It includes up-to-date information about stem cell research both from a scientific perspective and ethical and legal perspectives. Throughout the booklet there are activities and discussion questions to help students to explore the issues, as well as suggestions for further reading.
The booklet and accompanying Teacher’s notes, together with curriculum links, can be found online at: www.bbsrc.ac.uk/stemcellsresource Hard copies of the student booklet are available on request through the website.
Please take a look yourselves and feel free to pass the link on to any teachers who you think may find the resource helpful.
The booklet was produced in a collaboration between BBSRC and the Scottish Initiative for Biotechnology Education who themselves collaborated with the Institute of Stem Cell Research, MRC Centre for regenerative Medicine and the School of Law (SCRIPT) all based at the University of Edinburgh.
Many thanks,
Emma
