Applicants are invited for a new post in York Trials Unit (YTU) which
offers an opportunity to develop strong foundations for a career in
health services research. You will carry out statistical analysis of
ongoing trials and write summary reports on these. All of these analysis
will require expertise in statistical computing. You are expected to
demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of statistical methods
associated with trials and be willing to undertake further postgraduate
study if required. You will also be expected to manage other members of
staff in the trials unit, and work closely with the Department’s Health
Care Statistics and Methodology group, led by Professor Martin Bland.
The YTU is an established trials unit based within the Department of
Health Sciences at the University of York. The Director of the Unit is
Professor David Torgerson with Dr Catherine Hewitt managing statistical
analysis within the Unit. We undertake a range of randomised trials of
mainly health care interventions. Currently, we have trials looking at
interventions in cardiac care, wound care, dermatology and
musculoskeletal disorders. We are also collaborating with colleagues to
undertake non-health trials (e.g., education and criminal justice).
