Dear All,
Further my last on the above. I inadvertently missed a page and it's notes!
- Lewis, W.J., pp. 224 & 225..
The HDMDC rcd. it's Act of Parliament in 1876. The Duke of Westminster and
Lord Richard Grosvenor were Dirs., and John Taylor & Sons were the
engineers (& I would suggest Dirs. &/or shareholders as well but I have no proof
of this). The capital for the HDMDC was £100k.. Interesting that the first of
the Taylor Halkin Co.'s had the same capitalisation, but with the second a
smaller at £15k., almost as if in some sort of readiness for involvement
with the HDMDC? - and the Taylor & Sons (etc.), mines that would be served
by the tunnel... with possibly some sort of Joint Venture going on to the
benefit of all in the driving and further development of the Halkyn drainage
network.
Regards, Bernard
