I have noticed re-enactment participants generally say that fibula style Roman brooches were all worn catch plate up...simply because that is the easiest way to fix them in!
I find it difficult to believe people would be so lazy and careless just for the sake of a few seconds?
Surely there is some reliable historical or archaeological evidence someone can think of? - afraid I don't have access to any records, or know where to look, other than asking here.
